PHOTOS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

I’m so pleased that you’ve visited my website because it means you’ve come to the right place. if you’d like some photos taken with a family member that has additional needs.

Most families struggle because they not sure whether their child will behave or smile properly.  However, for you it’s completely different.  Not only do you have those worries but it’s also about whether your childs needs will be met, and understood.

HOW CAN I HELP?

I have worked in a school for children with special needs for a few years and I understand the needs of the children I work with.

I am well aware there are all kinds of additional needs. Whether someone in your family is a wheelchair user, has autism, is physically disabled or struggles ADHD.  Whatever it is, I want to be able to help you capture some beautiful photos.

Every parent worries about their family coming into the studio but I want to work with you prior to this.  To ensure we have everything in place, to make your session a positive experience.

I can show you many more photos of people that I have worked with but quite a few families do not like their photos shared online.

WHERE WILL THE SESSION BE?

I can either run it in my home studio, in the comfort of your own home, or a familiar outdoor location.

My space does have wheelchair but I am also happy to run sessions at home, where your child may be more comfortable.

HOW CAN YOU MAKE THE SESSION RUN SMOOTHLY?

First of all, I email over a questionnaire, which allows you to give me as much information as possible, regarding your family.  I can then send out social stories, provide a calm studio, come and meet you, play their favourite tv programme… whatever it is you need, we can arrange it together.

The session is very relaxed and I allow your child time to settle in.

WHAT IF MY CHILD REFUSES TO JOIN IN?

  • We can sit and wait, allowing your child to get used to the surrounding.  Eventually I can start to take photos where they are, or by putting items on the backdrop (if you want portrait style ones).
  • Relocate to your home or somewhere else if you think they’re not going to settle.
  • Rearrange for another day, maybe rethinking the location.
