Why did we decide to run 5km for the NHS during the Coronavirus Pandemic
Running 5km for NHS was our way of saying THANK YOU because during Lockdown I feel very guilty but privileged to able to stay at home, safe, with my children.
Unable to work, as a non essential business, this to is a small price to pay. At home I am able to spend time with my children: having fun, homeschooling and teaching them life skills. All the while, others are out there risking themselves everyday and then coming home to their family….Still trying to keep everyone safe!
Getting fitter during Lockdown.
A few times a week I have been able to get out for a run. Away from others and slowly building up my fitness. Something that lots of NHS workers have probably been unable to do, during this troubling time.
My children have been spent days with me, as a family: playing on the trampoline, cooking, taking the dog for walk; enjoying carefree days.
Saying thanks to the NHS.
My daughters football team, Southwater Royals Girls Under 13, challenged the girls to run 5km for NHS. So I decided my two children should attempt that challenge.
Having just built up to 5km myself, I told them we would just take it slowly, as neither of them had run that far before and nor had they done any training for it! Although as children they are constantly on the move. My daughter also loves athletics so she did have a head start in fitness. All because other people out there are working VERY hard to keep us safe.
The 5km run for the NHS
We set off early morning and both children were quite excited. The start was tough because it took a little while to warm up and set our pace.
Before long we all settled into a good pace and we were all smiling and chatting. The route we did was great because it had 4 sections, which meant you felt like to were checking off the miles pretty quickly. It was also through the beautiful countryside around Southwater so really nice and peaceful!
The final leg is where things got a bit harder but both children were still brilliant. Preferring to sprint, my daughter would run off and then went for us to catch up. Whereas my son, who doesn’t normally run took the slow and steady option. I was amazed by his determination because he didn’t walk even when he was really tired!
What amazes me most is how normal they both looked when we finished. I’m really proud of them both because they took the challenge on without any complaints and it was a brilliant thing to do as a family. If anyone would like to give a donation to the NHS please click 5k for NHS

It was lovely to be invited into this gorgeous families home to meet their beautiful 3 week old daughter and nearly 3 year old little boy; who was very excited to show me his new baby sister.
We decided to go for natural family lifestyle images to capture the closeness of the new family of four. After capturing some photos of them together on their window seat Henry was happy to show me upstairs to his parents room and the nursery where we were able to capture some tender moments while I tried to stay out-of-the-way.
Little Florence didn’t settle well for the beanbag part of the session so while mum took some time out to feed Florence I decided to head into the playroom to chat and play with Henry, who wanted to show me his mobile phone. I think you’ll agree he looks very cute on it.
Unfortunately, after this Florence didn’t settle very well so we agreed to meet up again to finish off the beanbag part of the session. When I returned Florence was a little dream and we were able to capture some more adorable photos of her. It really was lovely to meet another lovely family.
I will soon be putting together some dates for Autumn mini sessions in the Horsham and Crawley area. If you would like me to email you details please fill out the contacts form and I will add you to the mailing list. These sessions take half an hour so are cheaper than the full portrait session..
Hope you had a great summer.

Well its been such a busy time recently with starting a new part-time job plus finishing all the editing from previous sessions; I can finally say I have now caught up. If you are interested in booking a newborn photo shoot remember the best time is within the first two weeks of your baby being born when they are at their sleepiest and tiniest. This way it is easier to capture all those tiny features while your baby is happily sleeping. The only problem with newborn photo shoots is that when your baby arrives YOU do not wish to be booking a session, it’s the last thing on your mind. You will however be extremely pleased that you were organised enough to have booked it while you were pregnant so all you need to do is turn up. You can then breathe a sigh of relief knowing that your gorgeous new baby can grow and you can relax because we have captured the all important new baby memories.
If you are interested in booking a session its better to book as soon as you know you are pregnant. It doesn’t matter that you don’t know the exact due date, I will put your name in the diary and then when baby arrives we can arrange a time that suits you best. The nicest thing about booking your session early is that you can forget about it until your baby arrives and then at this point you will be super excited that you were so organised!
The sessions do take about 3 hours but this is because its such a relaxed session and completely baby lead. Your little one needs to be happy so we stop as often as required to feed and cuddle as needed.
I am also able to do a maternity photo shoot if you would like some memories of how gorgeous you looked during your pregnancy. There is a discount for booking both at the same time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Wow, what fun this session was. Reuben was only 8 days old when he came for his 1st set of photos and what a dream baby he was. As soon as he arrived his mum gave him a feed so that he was full up and ready to sleep, and he did just that.
He was such a relaxed little boy that we were able to just put him where he was needed and he just slept. His brothers were wonderful but slightly harder work (they were awake) but they did a great job and loved playing on the trampoline when they weren’t required for photos. It was easy to see that they were really pleased to have a little brother and just loved to look after him.
At the end we had a quick session with mum and dad as well which was really fun as everyone completely relaxed and just enjoyed themselves. I have absolutely loved editing this session and am so pleased that the family love them just as much as I do.
