It was lovely to be invited into this gorgeous families home to meet their beautiful 3 week old daughter and nearly 3 year old little boy; who was very excited to show me his new baby sister.
We decided to go for natural family lifestyle images to capture the closeness of the new family of four. After capturing some photos of them together on their window seat Henry was happy to show me upstairs to his parents room and the nursery where we were able to capture some tender moments while I tried to stay out-of-the-way.
Little Florence didn’t settle well for the beanbag part of the session so while mum took some time out to feed Florence I decided to head into the playroom to chat and play with Henry, who wanted to show me his mobile phone. I think you’ll agree he looks very cute on it.
Unfortunately, after this Florence didn’t settle very well so we agreed to meet up again to finish off the beanbag part of the session. When I returned Florence was a little dream and we were able to capture some more adorable photos of her. It really was lovely to meet another lovely family.
It was such a pleasure meeting Katie, as I work with her mum in my day job, so being able to capture some beautiful images of her daughter was very exciting. What made it even better was the fact that we share a love of the beach so I was able to do my first themed photo session. When I set this up I was so excited
and I couldn’t wait for the day to come round when little Katie would come to my studio.
After lots of feeding we were able to settle Katie very well for her session but she did something that really made me work… she LOVED to sleep with her tongue sticking out. It was a very endearing look and a memory that will make them laugh in years to come (I know because my own daughter used to stick her tongue out in the wind and we lived on Anglesey where it was ALWAYS windy so she constantly had a lizard tongue 😛😛) However, as cute as the little tongue was we decided we didn’t want it in every photo as it would be nice to have some of Katie looking beautiful without her tongue out.
And we managed it.. We were able to poke it in just long enough to grab some peaceful photos before she put it back out. It’s definitely made a funny session as we couldn’t stop laughing every time she’d poke it out, it was like she knew the camera was there and wanted to have some fun.
For this session I did it in two parts as Katie’s big sister was away so we did a family session at a later date and I’ll add the photos as soon as possible..
Last weekend I decided to drag my two children and mum out for some lovely Autumn photos and to enjoy a beautiful walk around the gardens. This only happened because I promised them a go on the big swing and a play in the den building area afterwards. Last year I made the mistake of going there first and NEVER actually making it into the gardens because the swing is absolutely awesome! The children also spend hours building dens too.
Sometimes, however children don’t want to play and decide they don’t want their photo taken… children of photographers included.
