It was lovely to be invited into this gorgeous families home to meet their beautiful 3 week old daughter and nearly 3 year old little boy; who was very excited to show me his new baby sister.
We decided to go for natural family lifestyle images to capture the closeness of the new family of four. After capturing some photos of them together on their window seat Henry was happy to show me upstairs to his parents room and the nursery where we were able to capture some tender moments while I tried to stay out-of-the-way.
Little Florence didn’t settle well for the beanbag part of the session so while mum took some time out to feed Florence I decided to head into the playroom to chat and play with Henry, who wanted to show me his mobile phone. I think you’ll agree he looks very cute on it.
Unfortunately, after this Florence didn’t settle very well so we agreed to meet up again to finish off the beanbag part of the session. When I returned Florence was a little dream and we were able to capture some more adorable photos of her. It really was lovely to meet another lovely family.
Meeting Katie for a newborn photo session part 1
It was such a pleasure meeting Katie, as I work with her mum in my day job, so being able to capture some beautiful images of her daughter was very exciting. What made it even better was the fact that we share a love of the beach so I was able to do my first themed photo session. When I set this up I was so excited
and I couldn’t wait for the day to come round when little Katie would come to my studio.
After lots of feeding we were able to settle Katie very well for her session but she did something that really made me work… she LOVED to sleep with her tongue sticking out. It was a very endearing look and a memory that will make them laugh in years to come (I know because my own daughter used to stick her tongue out in the wind and we lived on Anglesey where it was ALWAYS windy so she constantly had a lizard tongue 😛😛) However, as cute as the little tongue was we decided we didn’t want it in every photo as it would be nice to have some of Katie looking beautiful without her tongue out.
And we managed it.. We were able to poke it in just long enough to grab some peaceful photos before she put it back out. It’s definitely made a funny session as we couldn’t stop laughing every time she’d poke it out, it was like she knew the camera was there and wanted to have some fun.
For this session I did it in two parts as Katie’s big sister was away so we did a family session at a later date and I’ll add the photos as soon as possible..
Sheffield Park with Nanny
First of all, it’s no secret that I LOVE Autumn and that I also moan about living in Sussex away from the mountains and the sea that I’m used too. (As lovely as the Sussex coastline is I’m used to the sea being 5 minutes from my house)
However there is a place in Sussex that ALWAYS makes me pleased to see… and that’s the National Trusts Sheffield Park, https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/sheffield-park-and-garden
Last weekend I decided to drag my two children and mum out for some lovely Autumn photos and to enjoy a beautiful walk around the gardens. This only happened because I promised them a go on the big swing and a play in the den building area afterwards. Last year I made the mistake of going there first and NEVER actually making it into the gardens!
Sometimes, however children don’t want to play and decide they don’t want their photo taken… children of photographers included.
I LOVE AUTUMN……
It’s the most beautiful time of the year and I LOVE to make the most of the crisp days before winter arrives and I snuggle up in front of the fire.
After years of living in various countries and places around England and Wales there is one place in Crawley that has been hard to beat…
Tilgate Park…!! I know… hard to believe isn’t it.. but it’s true. Tilgate is just so beautiful and it has so much to offer… I remember many walks around Tilgate as a child and still today, even with all the additions it is STILL a BEAUTIFUL place to go for a walk.
This is why I decided to do my Autumn Mini Sessions at Tilgate this year. The colours on the trees will be stunning and with some beautiful areas, it really is a lovely back drop.
The session itself will only last 20-30 minutes and will be very relaxed to enable us to capture some beautiful photos of your family. £95 not only includes the session but you will also receive 3 digital images for you to keep. You will have the option to purchase extra photos, wall art or photo books but this is only if you choose to, it is not a requirement.
There is a parking fee but this money is put back in to the park and this really does show. My children still love the Nature Reserve that is growing all the time and has a lovely variety of animals AND is still an absolute bargain. After your session you can make the most of the park as there are also walks, parks, lakes, cafes, trim trails, Go APE, Smith and Weston Restaurant plus LOADS of different clubs going on in the huts.

Walking the dog along the Wey and Arun Canal
I love Autumn and today was feeling too lazy to tidy the house. My springer was looking at me longingly so I decided to head out with my camera and take a break. The Wey and Arun canal is beautiful and the colours are really starting to come out.
I parked at The Onslow Arms Pub http://onslowarmsloxwood.com/ car park in Loxwood because I could head straight out onto the tow path and when I came back I could pop in a grab a quick drink. It also does great food but today I just enjoyed their beer garden after my walk. The colours didn’t disappoint and the oranges were really starting to come out.
The recently renovated locks are looking great and you can tell that the canal is really looked after. I didn’t walk far today but you can walk all the way to Guildford which is also very beautiful.
This little baby boy was just a dream..
It was such a pleasure to be able to capture his first memories and he just slept so well.
His big brother was very proud of him and just to give him lots of cuddles.
Are you pregnant? Do you know someone that is pregnant?
I am now taking bookings for newborn baby photo sessions at my studio in Billingshurst, Sussex.
The best time to book your session is as soon as you find out you are pregnant, it is only once your baby arrives we then confirm the actual date, not before. The arrival of a new baby is a crazy time and one that passes in a blur so you will be extremely excited that you were organised enough to book your session, which is ideally done within the first two weeks. You can then relax knowing you have some gorgeous memories of your baby….
I love the spring and after living away from Sussex for the last 20 years it doesn’t stop surprising me with its beauty!
Whilst driving home from another of the children’s clubs last night we drove past this field. A quick U turn and a screeching halt in a lay by I bundled the children out of the car to enjoy the moment.
This was at the edge of the lay by with the sun setting in the background, while my daughter was in the field watching it set.
They then decided they wanted to hide along the path before we jumped back in the car and headed home.
I think writing this blog and technology going wrong actually took longer to do than capturing a lovely moment with my children…
So, put down your tablet, grab a camera and go capture a moment.. happy snapping this spring x
Spring is on its way!! Therefore, it won’t be long until the bluebells arrive and that means it’s time to book your session…
As bluebells only last a few weeks there will be limited dates available so if you are interested in capturing some memories of your family it’s best to book as soon as possible. Sessions will last about 45 minutes and location will be confirmed closer to the time, once I know the most beautiful area to use. At the moment possible locations include Barns Green, Horsham, Crawley or Billingshurst.
